Kansas Legal Services is currently holding an expungement drive for qualifying individuals in our area. Expungement is the removal of an arrest or conviction from a person’s criminal record. When a person’s record is expunged, no information related to the arrest or conviction may be disclosed, with certain exceptions.

A criminal history can be a major barrier to gainful employment, education, and housing causing long-term economic disadvantage. By expunging criminal histories, people will be able to pursue greater opportunities in the community, including better housing and employment.

Those participating in the expungement drive will receive free legal assistance from volunteer attorneys and may qualify to have their filing fees waived.

Applications can be made by calling 1-800-723-6953 or online at http://www.kansaslegalservices.org.
