Parent Advocate Program
Since it began in early 2020, the Family First Prevention program in Kansas recognized the need for more intensive attention on prevention of placing children in foster care – specifically, keeping families together before a petition is filed to remove a child from the family.  This puts a focus on family well-being, to give parents and caregivers support and access to needed resources to prevent or relieve a crisis in the family before it escalates. 
Johnson County Housing Voucher Program revamps waitlist to better serve families
From KSHB - Channel 41 News  July 30, 2024 Johnson County is getting ready to open its Housing Choice Voucher Program, which assists people who need rent assistance. When the waitlist opens this year, the process will be a little different. Last year, the county accepted more than 1,400 applicants but only saw a success rate of around 11%.

More access to justice in Barton County, Kansas courts
Kansas Legal Services (KLS) is proud to announce the commencement of the Barton County Legal Aid Outreach Program at the Barton County Courthouse in Great Bend. Made possible by the generous grant from the Dorothy Morrison Foundation, KLS will have an attorney present on the first and third Wednesdays of each month, beginning on Wednesday, April 23. The attorneys will be in Room 102 of the courthouse. KLS attorneys are prepared to expand their presence at the courthouse as needed.
Aspen Place complex in Gardner cited dozens of times before condemnation
