The Kansas Judicial Council has a basic instructional program online to help guardians and conservators.
As you may know, Kansas Legal Services is part of the national legal aid movement that was born in the War on Poverty in the early 1960s. KLS grew out of the movement that believed everyone deserved equal access to justice, without regard to their ability to pay for services.
The National Legal Aid and Defender Association (NLADA) has a film about the history of civil legal aid in the United States on their website.
Kansas Legal Services is pleased to announce that we will be providing legal assistance to low income Kansans at the Franklin County Self Help Center once a month.
We will have an attorney at the Franklin County District Courhouse, 301 S Main, Ottawa, KS, on the third Tuesday of every month to process applications, give legal advice and provide extended services.
When will this service be available?
For the rest of 2022, an attorney will be at the help center from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the following days:
