Kansas lawmakers are looking for ways to help low-income people avoid losing their driving privileges if they can't afford to pay a traffic ticket.
This form may be signed prior to a hospitalization to make clear your wishes in certain health care situations. A copy should be provided to the hospital, at admission. You may also wish to provide one to your primary doctor.

Steps to Reinstating Your Driver's License and Addressing Suspensions
The Kansas Legislature passed SB 127, which became effective on May 6, 2021, made some changes that can really help people who have a suspended driver's license.
Among the Changes from SB 127
People who have an expired license are not kept out of the Restricted Driver's License program because they have a driving while suspended conviction.
The instructions for filing an answer in a Chapter 61 Limited Action case are listed below. There is a link to an interactive form at the bottom of this page that will create your Chapter 61 answer.

Instructions for Filing an Answer in a Limited Action case
1. Do NOT file the first 3 instruction pages with the Court.
Seven years ago, the National Consumer Law Center (NCLC) issued Broken Records: How Errors by Criminal Background Checking Companies Harm Workers and Businesses, a report detailing the harmful mistakes that criminal background screening companies routinely make. Since then, advocates have litigated many class action and individual lawsuits against these companies for violations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
Gov. Laura Kelly on Tuesday, April 18, signed a bill removing mandatory jail time for driving with a license suspended or revoked for failing to appear in court on a traffic ticket or failing to pay a traffic fine.
