Sometimes the question is spoken aloud, but more often, it’s there in peoples’ wanting-to-be-helpful-but-also-kind-of-judgmental silences.

From KSHB - Channel 41 News  July 30, 2024 Johnson County is getting ready to open its Housing Choice Voucher Program, which assists people who need rent assistance. When the waitlist opens this year, the process will be a little different. Last year, the county accepted more than 1,400 applicants but only saw a success rate of around 11%.

Emancipation means you are legally separated from your parents or guardian and do not have to live with them.  The law in Kansas emancipates you when you are 18 years old.  Having a baby does not make you legally emancipated.  Your parents cannot emancipate you so they are no longer legally responsible for financially providing for you.
