Guide to Making Changes with the SSA This guide will you help understand how to change your name and gender marker with the Social Security Administration.   To change the name on your drivers license or state-issued ID, you will first have to obtain a name change order from a court. You can learn more about that process here.
Kansas Legal Services is pleased to announce that we will be providing legal assistance to low income Kansans at the Franklin County Self Help Center once a month. We will have an attorney at the Franklin County District Courhouse, 301 S Main, Ottawa, KS, on the third Tuesday of every month to process applications, give legal advice and provide extended services. When will this service be available? For the rest of 2022, an attorney will be at the help center from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the following days:

People in Wyandotte County who need legal help but can’t afford an attorney can now help themselves -- either by representing themselves or by taking advantage of a free attorney at the new Wyandotte County Self-Help Center.
KLS has brief videos (five minutes or less) to help you understand the court process if you are representing yourself in court.  One video tells you how to get ready for court, and one video takes you through the experience of going to court. KLS also has two brief videos to help you with understanding your rights in debt collection and how to deal with debt collectors.
