Mission and Professional Calling: Why We Need You
Kansas Legal Services Pro Bono (KPB) is a resource created and maintained by Kansas Legal Services (KLS). KLS is a statewide non-profit corporation dedicated to helping low-income Kansans meet their basic needs through the provision of essential legal and mediation services.
The fundamental goal of KPB is to increase access to justice for Kansans by matching legal professionals with individuals who cannot afford legal services.
We strive to achieve this goal through the creation and promotion of pro bono opportunities in a way that is **convenient and easy-to-navigate** for the busy law professional.
Lawyers who regard themselves as **professionals and not as mere journeymen** have done something beyond the practice that provides their income. The true professional works not simply for his or her own good, but to make their community, nation, and world **"a little better" because she or he lived**.
What Volunteers Gain: Making a Difference
Your skills, experience, and training are invaluable to us. We offer you **new and exciting ways to put those talents to good use** by helping your fellow Kansans access legal services.
By participating in pro bono work, volunteers can experience opportunities such as **making connections, giving back to the community, and getting practical experience**.
**There are many kinds of opportunities available in Kansas in which you can use your unique skills.** Whether it's a specific case in need of a pro bono attorney, an outreach clinic looking for more help, or some other project in Kansas that could use your expertise, Kansas Pro Bono can help you find a volunteer option that suits you.
