This session is designed to address the "waves" of legal needs that follow a disaster:
● FEMA Assistance & Appeals: Understanding eligibility for Housing Assistance and Other Needs Assistance (ONA). If you were denied, you have 60 days to appeal.
● Insurance Claims: Tips for working with adjusters, documenting damage before cleanup, and understanding the difference between Replacement Cost and Actual Cash Value.
● Housing & Tenant Rights: Guidance on unlawful evictions, lease terminations for uninhabitable units, and security deposit disputes.
● Contractor Fraud: How to spot "storm chasers" and your rights under the Kansas Roofing Registration Act .
● Document Replacement: How to replace essential titles, IDs, and birth certificates needed to unlock aid.
